This week's readings will center around our second core value: we are a holiness people.
One of the commands that can be found from the beginning of the Scriptures to the end is the command to "be holy because I am holy." Is this a high command? Yes. Is it a hard command? Usually? Is this an impossible command? No.
God would not require us to do something that cannot be accomplished (how cruel would that be?), but he will call us to do something that we cannot do without submitting and surrendering ourselves entirely to his will and purpose.
You and I will never attain holiness if we remain the center of our world. Remember that before we are called to be holy we are called to follow Jesus. As we seek to be like Jesus, as we seek to be the bond-servants that Scripture describes, Philippains 2:3-11 might serve well as a blueprint for us.
