Weekly readings July 20-26, 2026

Well, we wrapped up our series on prayer yesterday...I hope that your own prayer life has been impacted and that as we conitnue to learn how to pray that God will use New Life to serve and bless the Lake Community in amazing ways.

This week we are going to turn our readings to some circumstances in Scripture that remind us that walking with Jesus isn't always easy, but we are never alone. Remember that there is no promise that our life will be easy or comfortable as we wallk with Jesus, but we can rest assured that God is with us.

He might calm the storm or he might shut the mouths of lions, but he will never leave you and he will never forsake you.

Several years ago, when studying the book of Revelation, I paid more attention to 3:20 that I had in previous readings. While many of us have seen the famous painting that shows Jesus standing outside a door that has no knob (it must be opened from within), and while we have probably heard this verse used to encouarge folks to invite Jesus into their own lives for salvation...this verse is written to a church. While I do think there are personal implications from this verse, it might do us well to remember that Jesus was standing outsdie the Church of Laodicea and was hoping they would open the door an allow him in.
