How are you doing with your big, hairy, audacious prayers? Let's take God at his word and pray with boldness; with authority; with specificity and with persistence!
This week's readings are going to mix up a couple of things. Next week's topic is "when it is satan's will, not God's" and we'll be trying to prepare ourselves for the task of sorting through the noise to know the difference...we are not going to spend a great deal of time trying to learn about the will of the enemy, rather we are going to recognize that the satan wants to distract us from doing God's will and so we need to be able to recognize what is and what is not God's will.
The US Treasury doesn't train people to spot counterfeit money by studying all of the different counterfeit bills that have been produced, rather they train, they study, they memorize the real bill. They know the real bill so well that ANY mistake or discrepancy that the counterfeit bill has will be obvious.
"New Testament writes identify satan as a relentless acuser of Christians (Revelation 12:10, a tempter (1 Thessalonians 3:5), a hinderer (1 Thessalonians 2:18), 'the god of this age' (2 Corinthians 4:4), 'the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient; (Ephesians 2:2, the evil one (Matthew 13:19), and the enemy (Matthew 13:39)." (This quote comes from chapter 6 of Brother Andrews' book, And God Changed His Mind).
The more we are able to know God and his will, the less the enemy will be able to trick us with his lies and deceptions.
